St. Luke's Parish Ministries

Welcome to St. Luke's!  If you are interested in participating in any of the ministries listed below, please contact the church office at (208) 522-8465, or when you attend worship on Sunday, speak to any of the Vestry ushers regarding these ministries.  If you have any questions about any of these ministries, please call the church office.

 

Ministry of the Altar & Worship ServiceAltar Service

Acolytes:
Young people 9 years and older who assist in worship services.

Lector:
Read the scriptures in church on Sunday.

Lay Eucharistic Minister (LEM):
Youth and adults helping at the altar to serve communion.

Presenter:
Take bread and wine to the altar during services.  Whole families are encouraged, as well as individuals.

Altar Guild:
Prepare the altar for services, and clean up following services.

Worship Leaders:
Trained and licensed lay persons who lead worship services. 

 

Children's Ministries and Christian Education

Children's Ministries

Nursery:
Sunday mornings starting at 9:00 a.m. for Sunday School and the second worship service, care is provided for babies and toddlers.

Sunday School:
For people of all ages. There are Godly Play lessons for children preschool to 5th grade, THE youth group (Teens Helping Everyone), and for adults.

Kids Church:
During the 10:15 worship service, children will be invited to go to the upstairs conference room after the reading of the Gospel for "Kids Church".  They will return at the Peace. 

 
Pastoral MinistryPastoral Ministry

Lay Eucharistic Visitor (LEV):
Lay persons trained and licensed to help bring communion to the homebound.

CARE Group:
Help visit our homebound parishioners, andbring meals to people who are ill or recuperating.

Hospital Visitation:
Contacted by clergy & lay people.

Prayer Chain:
Individual prayer concerns. 

 

Creative Ministriescreative ministries

EFM:
"Education for Ministry" provides a comprehensive education in the foundations of our faith.

Worship Planning:
Open monthly meetings to plan worship events for the congregation.

Vocal Choir:
Adults and teens who rehearse weekly and sing twice monthly during worship.

Faith n' Harmony:
Adults and teens who provide contemporary and praise music with instrumental accompaniment during worship on a monthly basis.

Bell Choir:
Our own St. Luke's Tinntinnabulation bell choir that plays at St. Luke's once a month.

Shawl Ministry:
Meets on a weekly basis to knit or crochet shawls that are given as gifts for anyone who might seek the solace of their warmth.

Parish-wide Meals:
Persons to help with Parish-wide events, such as Annual Meeting Brunch, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, Bishop's Annual Visitation Brunch, Parish Picnic.

 

Parish Hospitality 

Refreshment/Coffee Hour Ministry:
Setting up snacks & drinks for each service.  7:45 a.m. set up, 9 a.m. clean up, 10:00 a.m. set up & 11:30 a.m. clean up.

Funeral Meals:
Willing to help host meals at church following funeral services.

Wedding Receptions:
Working with wedding family to meet their needs.

 

Outreach MinistryOutreach Ministry

Community Outreach Center:
Houses 5 ministries serving Idaho Falls and surrounding counties.

Soup Kitchen:
Hot meals 6 days a week. 

Regional Council for Christian Ministries: 
10 local churches coordinating the Food Bank, F.I.S.H. and the Island Park Little Church of the Pines.

Food Bank:
Distribution center for emergency food boxes for needy families.

F.I.S.H.:
"Friends in Service Here" support for needy families not covered by food stamps or other federal/state programs, also provices school supplies.

St. Luke's Monthly Outreach:
Supports local, national and wordwide charitable organizations.

November Turkey Boxes:
Provides food boxes for Thanksgiving for needy families.

Angel Tree:
In conjunction with St. Vincent dePaul, providing needy children with Christmas gifts.
